Children's Coalition

Purpose

The Children's Coalition is a Sacramento County Board of Supervisors appointed advisory body on matters relating to needs of children, youth and families.

Scope of Work

The Coalition's mission is to assess community needs, evaluate existing services and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and other policy-making bodies to promote the health and well-being of children, youth and families in Sacramento County.

We advocate for children's issues by funding programs, protecting children and reporting on results. We provide both policy oversight and community education about the needs of children and families. We do this work through our various committees:

Children's Trust Fund -  We provide grants to a variety of local agencies that  prevent child abuse. We also monitor their work and report the results of these grant-funded projects.

Child Protective Systems Oversight - We work together to review the system of agencies and organizations involved in protecting children throughout Sacramento County.

Policy and Advocacy - We gather data and information from a number of sources about the quality of Sacramento Children's lives and recommend policy changes in those areas.
