Support and Assistance

The County of Sacramento is recruiting resource families to provide stable and supportive homes for children who cannot remain in their birth home due to abuse or neglect. Approved resource families have access to support services including:

Compensation: Resource families are reimbursed for the child's basic needs.

Training: Resource parents will have training before placement of youth in their home. In-service trainings are offered to help resource families meet the needs of the children placed in their home.  Examples of training include crisis intervention, substance abuse issues, stages of development, handling different behaviors and positive discipline. 

Other services/resources include:

  • The Foster Parent Association​
  • Bi-lingual support services in Spanish and English
  • Holiday party
  • Annual foster picnic
